BALLET DANCER SEARCH
Santa Monica Contemporary Ballet is looking for well trained dancers (male and female) to perform with us in New York City in the Summer of 2011. We offer this opportunity to talented professional and pre-professional ballet dancers who would benefit from an intensive performance experience. We plan to engage 6-8 dancers to meet the demands of our Summer 2011 season. An audition will be arranged for interested dancers.
Overview of project, “Summer Season 2011”:
6 weeks of rehearsals + 2 weeks of performances in June/July 2011 as follows (specific dates to be announced):
2 weeks of rehearsals in Los Angeles (for West Coast-based dancers)
4 weeks of rehearsals in New York City (for all dancers)
2 weeks of performances in New York City/Boston
A film will be made of selected pieces from these performances. Filming will occur the final week of the project.
In addition, performances in Los Angeles/San Francisco will be scheduled for Fall 2011. Participants in our Summer 2011 season will have an opportunity to join us in California for Fall Season performances. Details to be announced.
General Terms of Contract
Pre-professional student dancers will be engaged as Apprentice Dancers (these positions are unpaid). Professional dancers will be engaged as Dance Artists to be paid for rehearsals and performances at a rate commensurate with their experience. We will sign and honor contracts with all dancers we hire.
Dancers who agree to participate in our Summer Season agree to pay all their own travel expenses. Certain room-and-board expenses will be covered by SMCB; to be negotiated.
